It's a Kairos Two-Day weekend this Saturday and Sunday, and I'm devoting my thoughts tonight to our Kairos Community Prayer. It's the focus for our weekend discussions inside with the Kairos prison community. We say this prayer everytime we're here. And our devotion this time will be devoted to discovering its true importance to us. And so we will search its inspiration in the scriptures and reflect on each line in the prayer.
"Jesus, come join us in our journey..."
(Read Luke 24:13-35)
What part of that story is most significant to you?
For me I see significance in how Jesus' words burned within their hearts as he read to them about the scriptures. It strikes me in how they were so moved by his teaching that they rush backed to Jerusalem and witnessed to the others. My prayer is that Jesus join with me and you. And instruct our hearts so that they burn for the gospel.
(Read Luke 12:35-48)
"As we seek your will..."
Do you know God's will for you?
Do you feel a need to act on it?
Are you doing so out of fear or love for God?
My prayer is that I and you will come to know His grace, mercy, and faith.
"For this community in this environment."
(Read Luke 13:6-9)
What are some ways that you can cultivate spiritual fruit in your relationship with Christ?
It's a cultivation of humility I seek.
I need to find forgiveness even in the most difficult situations. I must humble my heart, mind, and most of all my spirit.
Will I have the strength?
I pray I will.
"Teach us to love each other as you love us, to give ourselves as you give yourself."
(Read John 15:9-17)
What are some ways that you can strengthen the kingdom of God, especially in how you live and love the people in your life?
I pray that I will find ways to be at peace with my family and friends. To foster friendships. And to build communities for Christ.
And Lord, most of all I pray that I will always know your will, always love you, and always cultivate your kingdom wherever you send me.
Father, I thank for all you have done, are doing and will do.
In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
