The Final World War - I Wanna Go Home
(Read Daniel 11:36-45, 12:1-13)
During this time Jesus will return, joined by Michael the Archangel. The time of the great tribulation will have begun. During that time the remnant that flee these times of trouble will be bore safely to Petra to preserve them for three and a half years. And many were resurrected from the dead. The righteous in Christ are resurrected and taken up together with the Lord. And the wicked will continue to do the things wicked people do in the ways that wicked have always done.
Daniel 12:10
"Many will be purified, made spotless and refined, but the wicked will continue to be wicked. None of the wicked will understand, but those who are wise will understand."
Knowledge increases, busyness continues, but wisdom fails. And the world will take the mark of the AntiChrist upon them fixing their fate forevermore as those who have compromised their faithfulness.
When?
Matthew 24:15
“So when you see standing in the holy place ‘the abomination that causes desolation,’ spoken of..."
Mark 13:14
"When you see ‘the abomination that causes desolation’ standing where it does not belong"
In the light of the fact that all material earthly and human concerns are going to be wiped out, burnt away, dissolved and diluted, what sort of persons should we be?
The Apostle Peter addressed this question (2 Peter 3:10–14). Peter describes a fury so powerful that even the heavens will pass away. And every evil work and thought will be seen for what it truly is. The veil between the worlds will be lifted. The transdimensional spaces will be revealed. And all the structural elements of the universe will be melted away, so that the laws of physics that govern the current universe in our own age will have been transformed, made new, in preparation for the new heaven and new earth. Everything will be new. A new creation. Even science will become new. All understanding will be made new. There won't be a need for humanity to catch up in its understanding for all things will be reset. There's not going to be this great revelatory moment in which humans will finally grasp the knowledge of the universe's existence, for existence itself is dissolved.
Isaiah 65:17
“For behold, I create new heavens
and a new earth,
and the former things shall not be remembered
or come into mind."
It's just not going to happen that learned questioning people will finally get all their questions answered. It won't even come to mind.
But Peter speaks to the question for today, the important question, in which way should the people of God behave NOW?
Simply...
"You ought to live holy and godly lives"
Short and to the point.
Look forward to the final day, keep watch as our Lord instructed, and be imitators of his word. As that final day brings its destruction, you be holy and live godly. Look forward to the new creation. Be found spotless, blameless.
People will live into eternity, longer than even the earth. And what shall remain of them is what holiness and godliness they preserve in their hearts. The solar system and all the great galaxies, even space and time and all its various complex relationships, will be abolished; but the faithfulness of the righteous is preserved. Imagine that. All the vast glory of the universe is nothing in comparison to the faith of God's people.
Child of God. Meanwhile the world keep on spinning, and the bullshit keeps on shitting. But the king is coming; he is coming to his throne, and to his judgment. And there will no longer be talk of treason by mankind. The King is on his way, He's almost here. What manner of people ought you to be? Hasten his return through evangelism. Hasten the Lord’s coming through prayer.
Follow the example of Steven. Stephen was accused of speaking blasphemous words against Moses and God. And they stoned him dead. But not before he successfully proclaimed to truth of the gospel. Not before his revealing the gospel in the scriptures of the Old Testament. He did this with the help of Jesus standing at the right hand of God. Steven stood up, and Jesus stood with him. Steven saw his Lord standing up for him and he begged Jesus to forgive them for this heinous act of evil. Stephen wasn’t interested in defending himself. He simply wanted to proclaim the truth about Jesus in a way that people might understand. His proclamation opened up a door for the gentiles. He gave a defense of pure Christianity, and he lived his life well in that moment, short as it was. And the story of his life has stood the test of time. He is remembered because he lived his life for the glory of the Lord. In fact his whole sermon is about the glory of the Lord. And that glory lives among men. God is a pilgrim God, living within his disciples, sojourning in this world in holiness and faith.
So brothers and sisters, keep watch, preach the gospel truth, and remember to pray...
“Even so, come, Lord Jesus!” (Revelation 22:20).
