Simoom - A Poison Wind
The winds of change are not always a good thing. In fact, without the truth they can be evil.
Simoom is an ill wind. A devil's dust. It's a dread and foreboding sight. It's been said that the Arabic people deemed the "Simoon" so evil that they marched out to meet it ranked as an army, "their swords raised" (Herodotus).
It's a southeast dry dusty desert wind storming off the Sahara and its filled with red sand, and as it passes over the Mediterranean Sea it draws up moisture and results in the "blood rain" that impacts many nations in Southern Europe and in the Mideast. It causes unease and makes people irritable. It's abrasive and wears down buildings and machines. It's like a natural large scale sand blaster. During the storm visibility becomes very poor.
And the false prophets, the foreign gods, and the secularists that the people allow to infiltrate their worship, are like this destructive force of nature. It erodes faith. It wears down the armor of God. And gets inside the innermost parts of everything until finally everything is jammed up with it.
It was like this with Israel and it's like this even now. When the leaders failed to close the doors against the penetrating dust of falsehoods, visibility became foggy, people became irritated and uneasy, and the heat becomes unbearable.
Ezekiel 11:12
"You will know that I am the Lord. For you have refused to obey my decrees and regulations; instead, you have copied the standards of the nations around you.”
The Lord places a great and sometimes a terrible responsibility upon the leaders of the nations. They should not forget that they're responsible not only to their followers, but to God himself.
But when a nation of people mock the word of God and instead tolerate the worship of the impure, they subject themselves and their nation to wandering endlessly. It's important that the ministers and leaders stand firm in the Truth. When sinners are flattering themselves into their own ruin, with all sorts of imaginations, it is time to speak, and to tell them that they shall have no peace if they go on. The people need the truth boldly spoken in order to help them know that one way or another, God’s judgments must be executed; the word of God will rule either in its precepts or in its penalties. The only way to prevent the executing of God's judgments is remaining steady in the course of obedience. You just can't be wandering around with pagans, and hope to keep your peace and faith. It's ridiculous and reckless to introduce the impure worldly pagan religions into your worship. Add to that world of impure practices, the humanists, and the universalists.
