Hebrews 10:23
"Let us hold on to the confession of our hope without wavering, since he who promised is faithful."
The value of the atoning sacrifice made in Christ Jesus is infinitely sufficient. That's a formal and linguistically correct way of saying Jesus universally accomplished all that needs to be accomplished for the gospel to succeed in its mission of providing a way to salvation. And in short, Christ's atonement is faithfully offered as a sacrifice for all people. It is offered faithfully, even though it is not guaranteed to achieve the effective reception and acceptance of it by all people. God is determined that all people should have access to salvation in Jesus Christ, but he does not guarantee that all will come to his Son's banquet.
This is the nature of grace. God said yes to all mankind, and mankind is free to say no. And many will say no. So grace abounds under the condition of faith. It's dependent upon mankind's response. God's yes, grace, does not overrule mankind's no.
Grace is an invitation.
Then the King will say to those on his right, "Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world."
Matthew 25:34
God's grace prepares the way to the kingdom for those who receive it.
"The saints of the Most High shall receive the kingdom, and possess the kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever."
Daniel 7:18
Jesus offers the kingdom through his death and resurrection and he tells us all...
"Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, they shall not enter therein."
Mark 10:15
...that there is a circumstance by which the people must prepare to meet God.
Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, unless a man is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God” (John 3:3).
A born again person has a new heart transformed by The Holy Spirit. Indifference and hostility towards God is replaced by love and a desire for his righteousness.
(Isaiah 53)
Before we turned our backs on him and looked the other way. He was despised, and we did not care. And yet it was our weaknesses that he carried on the cross; it was our sorrows and sins that weighed him down. He was pierced for our rebellion, our disease, he was crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be made whole. He was whipped so we could be healed. All of us, like sheep, have strayed away. We have left God’s paths to follow our own. Yet the Lord laid on him the sins of us all.
Isaiah 53:7
"He was oppressed and treated harshly, yet he never said a word."
And now Jesus speaks through his witness:
"to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God."
John 1:12
His life is made an offering for our sin. And therefore our faith does not waver. And because of his experience, Jesus, The Messiah, makes it possible for many to be counted righteous, for he will bear all their sins. This is our faith, our hope, and our confession.
The way has been made. The path is set out before us. The home has been prepared and the banquet is ready. All who love God are welcome.
And Jesus says come...
“Yes, come,” Jesus said. So Peter went over the side of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus. (Matthew 14:29)
"Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28)
"The Spirit and the Bride say, “Come.” And let the one who hears say, “Come.” And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires take the water of life without price."
(Revelation 22:17)
“Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy? Listen diligently to me, and eat what is good, and delight yourselves in rich food. Incline your ear, and come to me; hear, that your soul may live; and I will make with you an everlasting covenant, my steadfast, sure love for David. Behold, I made him a witness to the peoples, a leader and commander for the peoples. Behold, you shall call a nation that you do not know, and a nation that did not know you shall run to you, because of the Lord your God, and of the Holy One of Israel, for he has glorified you."
(Isaiah 55:1-13)
