IN THE BEGINNING-God Created The Second Beginning
IN THE BEGINNING
Genesis 1:1
"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth."
The Almighty God, the Father was and is, from before the beginning, from all eternity. He had no beginning and has no end. All things were created through Him and His Word who was with him and his light overcame the darkness. (John 1:1-4)
The Spirit of God the Father was hovering over the formless empty earth. There was no other creation. There was no "space" (heavens) as we know it today. All things were formless and void. And God was over the earth.
What was the earth if it wasn't formed and it was empty? And if there was no atmosphere, space, heavens? We know there was waters, primordial stuff of creation. And God's Spirit was there hovering over it...
Pause for a thought:
🤔 God's Spirit was there I said. Where? Where was this happening? I think we can't really say what I said. We can't place God's Spirit in some geographic place, because there were no geographic places at this point in creation.
...there he hovered over the waters. God occupies center stage over "The Waters". This was the beginning of a creative process. In fact, In the beginning God created can also be translated as a temporal clause: “When God began to create.” And the word "created" (Hebrew. bará) means “to cut” or “carve” or “shape” something. From this we can understand that there was a formless, void less, primordial water structure of some sort, and God's Spirit was hovering over it, whatever "it" was. He hovered separately over the stuff of creation (he had no beginning and no end). And we can see here that creation can have no order, no form, no history without it's Creator. It's just an elemental chaos in the darkness. And before there was a universe there was God in all his glory and manifestations, and this elemental stuff (waters) of creation.
The earth did not come into existence by accident, it has a design brought about by the creative designer God, through The Word and, The Spirit. The creation of the universe is the expression of His creative will. It reflects his mind in its design and it's order. We can learn from this that His power is expressed in its immense nature. And we can also learn about his innate abilities when we realize that "man cannot live by bread alone, but by every Word of God." We realize that before mankind could even begin to thrive there had to be EVERY WORD OF GOD in all its vast and profound complexities. Creating and making all these things possible. He is supernatural because he created the natural. Natural is His invention. It's His design. And he created the natural from the primordial waters, through the power and person of His Word.
Why?
Why did he do it?
Because he could?
Maybe.
But if you read and come to understand God's Word, you'll soon realize that all this creative thinking and work was initiated for you (and me). Because God loves you (and me).
Don't get me wrong, this In the Beginning moment wasn't about us, it was about God. It's about his Almighty power and will. That's for us to see. We're to realize that God is the center of the universe. Not our solar system, not the planet earth, not mankind, not us as individuals. GOD is the center of the universe. The vastness and complexity of that universe and all its dimensions is centered upon Him. And in the moment of His creation Word, all things came into being; and that includes the beginning of the geographical, and cosmological history. Everything; light, substances (the compounds of elements), the forms of geographical records (including fossilized materials), all the life forms and their chronologies (those that have come and gone and those yet to come). Every evolutionary process has its beginning and design in Him. These things were created according to His vision. All the sparks of organic life and all the seemingly dead inorganic forms sprang instantaneously into existence Through His Word. In a Word, where there was once nowhere, somewhere became here. In all that chaotic nothingness, everything instantly evolved according to God's plan.
CONCLUSION:
As I said earlier, God loves you (and me). And he created this all for you (and me). And his creation is ongoing.
Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope."
God The Father, through His Word, continues to create, because his, In The Beginning moment, set the courses for his creation to evolve and develop into his ultimate work. Still centered upon Him, he loves you. Still His creative work, he loves you. Still evolving in time toward his ultimate goals, he loves you. If you learn nothing else from this lesson, realize how great our God is. How supernaturally amazing is his creation plan and how special he sees you in that plan.
Hope, for you.
A future, for you.
Plans for good, not disaster, for you.
And all he asks in return from you?
Keep watch for His next creative adventure.
Keep faith in Him.
Abide in Him.
What's that next creative thing?
IN THE END
Jesus (God's Word) prophesied about the end times:
Matthew 24:37
"As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man."
Q: As WHAT was in the days of Noah?
A: People were doing what people do. They were marrying, eating, drinking, and working. (vs. 38-41)
Jesus wasn't predicting another great flood that covers the earth (disasters) for you. He was warning all of us and encouraging us to keep the faith, and keep watch. His creation isn't finished yet with its evolution. More of the chaos is being dealt with. And something new and wonderful is coming this way.
42 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come."
