TRUTH IS A WALL THAT MUST BE GUARDED
They say that politics is downstream from culture. I say that culture is downstream from religion (relationship) or why you want to believe your faith experience is.
Question: Why is Truth so damned important?
Answer: Because a city without walls allows all good to bleed out, and become forsaken; and likewise allows all that is evil to break in and take hold.
The original integration-
Genesis 2:15
"Then the LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend (cultivate) and keep it (guard it)."
He was tasked to put his back into it. Cultivation is the effort the farmer makes to ensure that he'll produce a bountiful crop. He plows the ground, fertilizes it, plants the seed, and continually nurtures further growth. If he fails, if he's lazy or slack in his duties, then nature does what nature does. Nature follows it's course and the farm begins to disintegrate.
The original disintegration-
Genesis 3:4-5
“You will not surely die,” the serpent said to the woman. “For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
Something new was introduced into the culture. An idea came on to the scene. This idea that there was something lacking in the lives of the garden couple. They were told they weren't given every opportunity to be all they could be. They were told they were lied to by their creator. The relationship they had with The Creator now begins to disintegrate as they begin to accept this idea that they should and could question His truth without fear of consequences. Instead of believing God, Eve believed Satan (the birth of paganism married to humanism). The first woman ate the forbidden fruit and gave some to her husband to eat as well. She integrated a new relationship into their experience. Scripture says "the eyes of both of them were opened." (Genesis 3:7) They realized they were naked (shame) and made hasty coverings from fig leaves (deception).
What's Old Is New - Nothing is as it seems, the personal, the eternal, and the social.
Read Proverbs 25:28
"A man without self-control (no rule over his own spirit) is like a city broken into and left without walls."
Read Ecclesiastes 1:14
"I observed everything going on under the sun, and really, it is all meaningless—like chasing the wind."
The truth shines light into the darkness helping us to see things for what they truly are. Without truth it's like having no defense protecting your city. It means you're exposed to every changing, shifting, wind of change. It means everything that you are is vulnerable to the disintegration that comes on the winds of change. Like it or not, human potential is achieved by means of a cultural (cultivated) social political life. By finding our own way and seat within the social order of things. Man is a social political animal. If his culture is sick it's most likely because it's leaders are sick, and everything has become ill from the top down as a result. If a king is just, the bodyguard will be just. If a king is just, the land will be prosperous. The embodiment of a sick society is a polluted kingship, and from the top down his courts (bureaucracy) will be tyrannical, unconstitutional, and justice disintegrates. The danger to the community is internal. It's already inside, and the result is the fragmentation of the community.
How often do we stray from the straight and narrow? How far have we already drifted? How did we get here?
The answers are obvious and easily recognized. We can see it clearly by just how much we've integrated sin into our culture. By how much we celebrate and cultivate coexistence with ungodliness. And I believe we can no longer see the fullness of sin (forest) for the sinners (trees). Everything sinful has found it's way into who and what we are as a culture. It has been integrated into our very fabric of being.
Let's take a closer look at Integration and disintegration.
To be integrated is to be fully realized within the whole. Our integrated being and all that makes us who we are flows, fits and works together harmoniously. If we say that something has integrity we are saying that it is whole and unimpaired. And there's only one way I know to achieve integrity. Only the wisdom and power of God can provide peace for the weary who are suffering from the disintegration of this culture in our fallen world. Anything else leads only to our destruction. God's wisdom helps us to sort it all out. Those who rebel against God and his words of wisdom are caught up in the spiralling disintegration of life and thought. This is made most evident today in just about every avenue of western human culture and civilization. We're seeing everything turned on its head. Right is wrong, good is bad, truth is fiction, lies are virtuous. No matter where we turn today we're being told that who we are isn't who we are. We're instructed and even coerced into believing that what we are isn't what we want. And whatever we believe today will no doubt be the wrong truth tomorrow. It's all disintegrating into chaos, and ultimately that's the goal of the one who is our cultural guide.
Since the primordial disintegration, the fall of man, we've been living by bits and pieces. Not integrated, but instead far flung and disjointed. No unity of purpose. Our God was pushed aside and replaced with many gods, a cacophony of warring voices and forces, all hell bent on our mutual destruction. And the enemy of humanity wants it that way. The king of chaos, Satan himself, is attempting to create the universe into a multi-verse of his own reductionist thoughts. A universe filled with infinite twists and turns. And ironically that disintegrating worldview is spiraling into an integrated deadly void of despair.
Satan has infected the Christian worldview with a tendency to lose sight of the integrated nature of life under our one true God. Satan has accomplished this by injecting into the Christian cultures; pluralism (identity is our guiding force), humanism (we are the gods), and relativism (pride and greed are our virtues). This infection works constantly at disintegrating the fabric of our faith. Pulling apart the threads of our God's divine order, the exposition of his word is seized and sequestered, confined (for now) to only certain times and sessions deemed acceptable in our ever increasing humanist institutions. Christian heresies restrict God’s word from everything, disintegrating it into just a meager portion of our human experience, and dislocating the Christian people from their evangelist calling in this world. Sometimes even now, outlawing Christian evangelism altogether for it's been deemed to be harmful, discriminatory, and intolerant. As such the Christian worldview has disintegrated and become increasingly impotent in this dying culture. As the faith disintegrates so to does our unified culture. Instead today we're growing more and more tribal, disintegrating into cults of superstition and clans of distrust. And it's no big surprise that within that disintegrating shift we're seeing a rise in the normalization of pagan practices.
This cultural crisis of our personal disintegration is rooted in that we have traded God’s wisdom for the notion that man, acting as his own god, can generate from his own consciousness a suitable wisdom to overcome the human curse we took upon ourselves. We seem to believe we can reintegrate and redeem our shattered world by reclaiming this world and rebuilding it in our own image. The problem is we've shown just how futile our effort is in that we cannot even get together and integrated on such simple truth themes such as "what is a woman", "when is a life a life", "what is truth"?
My prayer:
God forgive us our weaknesses. And bless those who come in the name of the Lord. Thank you King of The Universe.
