GET FAITHFULLY BUSY AND WATCHFULLY READY
A lot of things get buried in the ground, for a variety of reasons. A farmer buries a seed planning and hoping for an increase. Trash is buried in a pit in an effort to cover up the waste and filth, covering the stench to the best of our ability. Dead people are buried in a box, in the dirt, for similar reasons. And likewise, faith and the knowledge of God's will is often hidden, hidden out of fear.
Truth is in every example given by Jesus, whether a parable or a command, he makes it very clear that he has established an individualist meritorious government model. Jesus was definitely not a socialist, Marxist, or building a communist revolution in his church. On the contrary actually, he has established a meritocracy.
At the Judgment Seat of Christ there are going to be many differences in the verdicts of the Lord. The various verdicts have nothing to do with whether the believer enters into God’s Kingdom or not. It has everything to do with rewards (measures) in that Kingdom and the loss of such rewards.
Jesus has said that He is going to hold His servants, that is believers, accountable for their action, or lack thereof, based upon how much they know and how they managed what they were given. He will expect more from those believers who knew more. In the same way he recognizes that much forgiveness creates much love. The reason for this is that they have a greater understanding and therefore a greater responsibility. We are the ones “to whom much has been given.” While our eternal destiny is not in question, what the Lord will say to us when He returns is something we should ponder, pray about, and take very seriously. What have we done with the knowledge we have? The Lord enlightened and enlarged my understanding many seasons ago, and he boiled it down into one proverbial revelatory comment, "having once learned the will of God it is not for you to leave it left undone.".
The lessons to learn:
15 "To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one, to each according to his ability"...29 "to everyone who has will more be given, and he will have an abundance."
Matthew 25:14-30 The Parable of the Talents
"For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask the more."
Luke 12:47-48
This is the orthodoxy of the believers, it's their mission motive. They are free to do with it what they will, or will not. Their reward is completely up to them. One thing is certain, no believer is called to do nothing. No one is given much and expected to do less than as best they can. Faithfulness with readiness is the expectation. The church should perform their service, whatever that may be, always with an eye toward the fact that Jesus may return at any moment. Readiness involves active service.
John 9:4 "We must work the works of him who sent me while it is day; night is coming, when no one can work."
