Amos 4:11b
"But still you would not return to me,"
says the Lord.
In the garden, after the first parents had sinned, and as Adam is hiding and God is walking through the garden, The Lord says, “Where are you?”
Not an accusing judgmental shout, but small still voice, a somber expression of love mixed with sadness. Where are you my child? My love. My heart. What have you done? Look now, I'm unable to change this, what you've done has forced my hand.
"This is going to hurt me more than it hurts you"
What you've done has opened the door to sin, and now every generation will suffer for it. I'll be with you and I'll be with them. Even to the very last day I'll be with them. But now our relationship has changed. Before we walked together, now your sin, your turning towards wormwood has changed that walk. What you've unleashed will become the ruin for all mankind. And even though I've created the vast glory of the universe, this thing I cannot undo for you. Only you can undo this.
My child:
I can lead you in the paths of righteousness.
Psalm 23:3, David declares of the Lord, “He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake”
I can teach you about faith, grant you wisdom, and instruct about obedience that comes through my word.
Romans 10:17
"So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ."
And I can even sacrifice my only begotten Son as a witness to the truth and the propitiation of your sins.
2 Corinthians 5:21
"For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God."
But my child...my child...I cannot make you seek me. I cannot force you to love me or my righteous Son. Before we walked together in the truth, with honesty, genuine love, and it was all very natural and innocent. But now you've turned justice into wormwood. The darkness of confusion has overshadowed your way now. It separates us, it clouds your understanding. Before if you asked I could answer. If you wondered about the world I could speak to you in truth without doubts or fear. But now you've invited gods of imagination and confusion into our relationship, and so I cannot trust your innocence that has been polluted by sin. There now exists boundaries between us built by your own hands. And now there's nothing beyond complete destruction that will remove that corruption from you. You must be recreated. Reborn. Made new.
And so I will send my Son who created you to do this thing for you.
John 1:3
"God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him."
“Behold I make all things new” (Revelation 21:5)
My Son is coming again to bring the new creation with him and with you, the day has been made, and the time has been established. And everyone who loves God and obeys his word will inherit his kingdom. This is the only way we can redeem your life. This is the only way we can resolve the problem you created with your disobedience.
My child, I want you to understand that this is the only way we can walk together again in justice, honesty and truth. I need you to believe and obey the instructions my Son has given you. In Him I've placed all authority to cover your sins with his sincerity and righteousness. If you do this we'll live together again in eternity. I know it's going to be hard. I know generations will fail to come together to do the right thing. I know the consequences of your disobedience will drive a wedge between us. I know you'll reject my Son. And I know it's going to hurt him more than it hurts you. We just want you to believe with all your heart, mind, spirit, and strength.
Jesus commands, “Believe in God; believe also in me” (John 14:1).
Come and walk with us again. Walk the new path made for you since that first sin.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”
2 Corinthians 5:17
Will you come?
