Isaiah 66:8
"Who has ever seen anything as strange as this? Who ever heard of such a thing? Has a nation ever been born in a single day? Has a country ever come forth in a mere moment? But by the time Jerusalem’s birth pains begin, her children will be born."
When God restores his people, he forgives, he regenerates, he sanctifies, and he empowers. And the funny thing is, he doesn't do it so much for the people of Israel, those idolatrous whoring people of God, he does it for the sake of his holy name, to show the holiness of his name among the nations.
God changes the hearts, he reforms the minds, it is his will that restored the nation of Israel. God puts the desire on their hearts. God keeps his promise, that he will work a good work in them, to qualify them for the good work he intended to bring about for them. It's all him. He did that. He even cleanses them from their pollutions of sin. He sprinkles water on them, he poured out his Christ upon them, cleansing them of their idolatry. The city and all its idols are completely destroyed and the land lays desolate for centuries...just as he said it would. And in the fullness of time he restores the mountains of Israel. A real significant change has taken place. God said, you shall be my people, and I will be your God. It is not, “If you will be my people, I will be your God”. They are chosen. They are victorious in the end because God made it so. And for him it's all in a days work.
Revelation 21:7
"Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children."
Prophecy Footnotes
Ezekiel 36:24 This prophecy has been in the process of fulfillment since World War II. The Jews have for centuries been dispersed among all the nations with only a few remaining in the homeland. But by a.d. 1960 one-sixth of the Jewish population of the world was in Israel. Already they had been made “one nation” (37:22a)—between sunrise of one day and sunset of the next—“a nation born in one day” (Is 66:8). But the greatest event of all is yet to come (Ezek 37:22b-25). This prophecy will be fulfilled in its entirety.
The old order of things has passed away...and God is the one making everything new. God is proclaiming and fulfilling for all the world to see that he is for Israel and they are his people. God proclaims "hineni alekem", I am here, I am for you, I am your peace, I am on your side.
