God created the slow clap. And it's for you.
Ezekiel 22:12b-15
"They never even think of me and my commands, says the Sovereign Lord. But now I clap my hands in indignation over your dishonest gain and bloodshed. How strong and courageous will you be in my day of reckoning?"
The people of God are not guiltless. As the Prophet said, they have sown the wind. The people are commit fornication and adultery. They no longer even know the meaning of the word so pornographic is their nature. They defile their daughters-in-law, and who rape their own sisters. There are hired assassins, loan racketeers, and extortioners everywhere. Lying, cheating, oppressing the weak. Greedy for gain.
And God's going out of business. Very soon He will no longer have their interests in mind. He's going away and leaving them to their corrupt masters. He's lost all respect for their ways. So much disdain. He disdains all their disdainful behavior. And frankly God has lost it. Had enough.
With an ironic and indignant slow clap, God judges the nations of the modern world. He is preparing a time to refine the people, to melt them down like precious metals in a furnace. And frankly he delights in the process. He pours out his fury in the crucible, and his Spirit blows hot on their idols.
He is removing the polluted dross. He blows hot on the priests who violated his word, those who make no distinction between what is holy and is not. These fences-sitters who protect only their places of honor and retirement funds. He is blowing hot on the leaders who plot conspiracies and hunt the people like wolves tearing apart their victims.
Ezekiel 22:27b
"They actually destroy people’s lives for money!"
And God is blowing hot on even the common people who follow the lead of these corrupt government officials. These common people who rob the needy and oppress the refugees among them. No one is clean, all go into the furnace.
God looked for a righteous person, he searched for a righteous soul in all the land.
"but I found no one." Ezekiel 22:30b
How did this happen? How did it get this bad?
Simply put, the church and the nations of God's people were raised up out of their former prostitutions, and he restored them into His righteousness by the grace of God. But they did not leave their spirit of prostitution behind them. She kept their hidden idols alive in their secret heart of hearts. She allowed the wicked to fondle her. The wicked people she lusted after stripped her of God's word, and took generations of her children captive to their wicked thoughts.
And so God claps indignantly.
Ezekiel 23:35b
the Sovereign Lord says: "You must bear the consequences of all your lewdness and prostitution.”
