There is power in prayer
The Lord God of heaven says,
"Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and incomprehensible things you do not know."
Jeremiah 33:3
Things you should know about prayer:
1. Pray at all times in the Spirit...(Ephesians 6:18) do this everywhere and anytime..."all times". You do this and you'll discover that you'll become known as a man or woman of prayer. This could be a good thing for you, or maybe not. Some people will ask you to pray for them, others will judge you for your prayerful spirit. Prayer is a powerful message, both in the sight of God and in the eyes of the people.
2. Prayer is God's special time appointed to us in order that we might receive his blessings and become a blessing.
3. Prayer helps us to overcome and deal with the pressures of life. God comes into our prayers and helps us to guard our hearts when we are heartsick. He'll protect our souls and he helps us to find the answers we need to get beyond our trauma.
4. The Lord gave us a wonderful model for prayer, known as the Lord's prayer. Line for line, word for word, the Lord's model prayer lays out the kinds things you should be praying.
As for me, I believe prayer is a relationship. These days it's popular to say, "it's about relationship not religion". This is true in our prayer life. When you pray in the Spirit, you are most definitely in relationship with God. It's like you've crawled into the Fathers lap and while lying there, in his gentle and warm embrace, his Spirit calms your spirit and encourages you to speak yourself out to him. God wraps himself around you and embraces your prayer into himself.
God sometimes says no when we ask for something in our prayers. But if He really loved us, wouldn't He always answer our prayers with a yes?
Does a parent give everything to their child that they ask for?
No, of course not. and the reason is because we love them and we don’t want anything unholy to happen to them. God loves us and knows what is best for us — far more than we do. The Bible says, “If we ask anything according to his will…. we have what we asked of him” (1 John 5:14-15).
So there are precepts of God that make it possible for us to get together with him and talk about how we can become blessed by his willingness to bless us. Prayer is a great privilege, and it's made possible because Christ sent his Spirit to help us pray. It wasn't so much that The Spirit is God's messenger service or mailman. What prayer is, is that it's a commitment of ones life to God's will.
"Not my will but your will be done."
On earth as it is in heaven. On earth. Here and now. At all times. In everyday situations. For every kind of purpose in God's will.
It is a relationship.
Honor your Father in heaven with your prayers. Your purpose in this life is to glorify God. This is our sanctification. Living this prayerful lifestyle daily. This is Christ's holiness alive in us. This is how he makes us holy.
Let's begin...start by giving him the glory.
Almighty Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done...
