It's Christmas!
And if you are not firm in faith, you will not be firm at all.
Everyone is hot and heavy about setting up, putting up, and decking the halls for Christmas. I see it everywhere.
You wanna start Christmas Okay...me too
Let's begin - Isaiah 7:14-16
14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel [means God is with us] 15 He shall eat curds and honey when he knows how to refuse the evil and choose the good. 16 For before the boy knows how to refuse the evil and choose the good, the land whose two kings you dread will be deserted.
And this prophecy did come to pass. The two kings (historians confirm) were in fact deserted.
The prophet talks about Jesus the Messiah being a trap, the great stumbling stone to the heads of the houses of Israel. And salvation to those who accept him as their lord, both Jew and Gentiles. Israel in those days was seeking salvation and consolation from spirits of the dead like so many today. They tracked the darkness and the heavenly bodies to find divine guidance.
And yet they missed him even though the prophets told them:
Isaiah 9:6 For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
The Bethlehem child is born, (that's the human aspect). (See Micah 5:2-4)
A Son is given, (that's the divine aspect).
John 3:16 Jesus said:
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
And he shall reign forever and ever.
The reason for the season.
