The Pontius Pilate Effect is to presume that by washing your hands of the matter you’ve removed your own guilt and responsibility in regards to Christ Jesus' case. In fact, to wash your hands of Jesus doesn’t absolve you from having to make a decision…truth is you’ve just made it.
The question we all must ask and answer:
Matthew 27:22 Pilate asked -
“What then shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ”
The popular crowd answered, "crucify him!"
The apostles and followers of Christ answered by running away in fear.
Only a condemned crucified thief glorified his name, and for this act of faith he was deemed to be righteous in Christ Jesus' name. He was re-deemed (given a second look), judged to be a child of God, he received friendship with God. He gained eternal life.
Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life: the one who believes in me will live, even though they die” (John 11:25).
Death is not final, Jesus is. He is risen. He sits at the right hand of the Father. And he will come again to receive to himself all who have loved God and one another as he has loved them. Jesus DIDN'T say, "I am finished, he said, "it is finished." Mission accomplished. God has remembered his promise and laid down his human life. He redeemed all who love God and love one another in Him. He did this because he loves the whole world.
“What then shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ”
What is you final answer?
