knowing when to hold'em and fold'em
"Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving; meanwhile praying also for us, that God would open to us a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ." (Colossians 4:2)
Friends,
Did you know that the word "continue" shown above comes from the root meaning ‘to be strong'? Be strong in prayer. Be persistent in prayer. Be fervent about it. Spare nothing. Lay siege to God's heavenly gates with continual prayers. Your prayers need to intercede, to remain watchful, and to be brought to the gates of heaven in thanksgiving. These qualities are what makes a strong prayer life. And your gospel words about the mysteries of Christ need to be spoken to the world filled with grace, wisdom, and wit.
Both your prayers and your spoken words need to be concerned for the blessings of God upon those for whom you intercede. Walk in wisdom toward them. Pray in grace with and for them. And teach them with witful exhortations without creating new prejudices toward Christ's kingdom.
Let's be honest friends, the word of God doesn't say to not cast your pearls among the swine because they aren't worthy to hear it. We're told this bit of wisdom to save us from getting caught up in the useless controversies that will no doubt ultimately result in our wit and wisdom devolving into corrupted good manners and giving them opportunity to have cause for dislike. In other words you've got to know when to hold up, fold up, and walk away, as Kenny Rogers would say. Speak truth, and play the cards you're dealt. Walk cautiously.
Proverbs 26:4
"Do not answer a fool according to his folly, or you yourself will be just like him."
Be strong and be smart. Pray for the world to receive God's mercy. Pray for the King of The Universe to pour out the blessings of heaven upon them. And find your prayer warriors to have them join with you in these concerns. God knows how to reverse things. God's divine supernatural shift will defeat the demonic influences that you are up against. And trust that he will hear and answer.
Friends,
I can testify and assure you, that a prayer life that begins in tearful, fearful, uncertain hopelessness, will one day become a prayer life of confidence, hope, fervor, and POWER!
God's going to take your intercessions and thanksgiving from the background to the foreground when you make CONTINUE your purpose. He'll not only hear and answer you, he'll open up doors you never thought about knocking on. Just live it and he'll bless it.
God's blessings and merciful love upon you all.
Your Brother In Christ
Michael
