Sin creeps in...
Jesus Gets The Last Word
"God shows no partiality."
Romans 2:11
"Things which are equal to one same thing are equal to one another." - Euclid
It's simple math folks- Sin is sin, light is light, dark is dark, and shadow is shadow. A sin is any thought or action that falls short of God’s will. God is perfect, and anything we do that falls short of His perfection is sin. God's will being the target, anything missing that mark is sin. All sins are equal in that they all separate us from God.
There will be tribulation and distress for every human being who does evil, and likewise glory, honor and peace for everyone who is in Christ Jesus. You have no excuse, He (God) will pour out his wrath and his blessings to each one according to his works. To those who patiently seek glory in Christ he gives eternal life, but for those who are self-seeking there is only fury. And it is for this reason that the teachers and preachers of the law (The Word) of God are to be held accountable for their works. Encouraging others to sin is condemned, God’s judgment is based on truth, all things being equal God will show no partiality. Apart from God’s grace “there is no one who does good, not even one.” And like wise, those who reject the truth and follow evil will be punished. This is God's perfect will, his righteousness, his equality. The light people have (or the lack thereof) will judge them. Whether they live under the law of God or under the nature of humanism, their light will judge them.
Are all things equal?
It's difficult to confidently try and determine the severity of sins in God's estimation. Humanist morality and science is never perfect. In the Old Testament, God applied different penalties for different sins, which suggests for some that there are greater and lesser punishments for sins. A thief was made to paid restitution; an occult practitioner was cut off from Israel and sent away; one who committed adultery, practiced homosexuality, or cursed his parents was put to death (see Exodus, chapter 22 and Leviticus, chapter 20). In Ezekiel 16 we see Sodom was guilty of the sins of arrogance, gluttony, indifference to the poor and needy, haughtiness, and “detestable things.” And yet Jesus said it would be more bearable on the day of judgment for Sodom than for Capernaum because of Capernaum’s unbelief and refusal to repent after witnessing His miracles (Matthew 11:23-24). Jesus' most fierce denunciations were for the sins of pride and unbelief, especially by the religious leaders, not just the sexually immoral (Matthew 23:13-36).
Truth of the matter is, whether the evil deeds are relatively small or great, they will all place us in hell apart from God’s grace. And this is why Christ came. This is why he (Christ) is the hope of all humanity.
Jesus gets the last word:
Did you ever read the very last line in the Bible?
He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming quickly.” Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus! (Revelation 22:20)
The hope:
Jesus is calling you to holiness, his holiness in him. Be a holy people, attain the promises reserved for faithful overcomers, do not falter in the struggle against sin. Never be satisfied till you find such a spirit breathing in you. Nothing should be more desirable to us than that the grace of Christ may be found in and with us in this wicked world, preparing us for the glory of Christ and the kingdom to come. It is by his grace that we joyfully expect the glory of the Lord to rise among us, and we will be made fit in it. Lord Jesus, king of the universe gives grace and glory, and no good thing will be withheld from those who walk uprightly in him.
Did you ever think you'd ever see the day come when the truth and glory of the Lord would be maligned and reviled by our nation? Even from the very pulpits of the churches who weekly call upon his name? Did you ever think you'd live to see this great falling away? Even so come Lord Jesus.
"There is nothing more irreligious than self-absorbed religion."
There is no such thing as "just Christian enough". You ain't going to squeeze through a seam in the gateway. You're not going to climb through a window or an unwatched corner of the wall. It's not done in a vacuum. Have you ever watched a cockroach squirrel itself through a tightly stitched seam in a sofa? I have! I've seen an entire cockroach colony living behind a dresser mirror frame, thousands of them in a space less than an 1/8 of an inch in depth. That's hell folks! Sinners piled upon sinners by the billions.
You must become a new creature, old things MUST pass away.
"Do not be conformed to this world", means tolerating sin in your walk with Christ will trap you into a "just fit in" snare and pull you down and out with it. ALL sins being equal means ALL sin leads to death.
Get back to seeking the acceptance of Jesus Christ, and drift away from seeking the acceptance of the unholy. Become a Christian, not in name only, BE Christian.
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all, Amen.
