You're not alone in this.
1 Peter 5:8-9
It's time today and every day to be sober-minded; and on the watch. The devil and his influencers are prowling around like roaring lions, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, stand firm in your faith with a genuine resolve, knowing that the same kinds of suffering you are experiencing are being suffered upon your fellow believers throughout the world.
Like a Lion, the enemy keeps watch for a weakness. Looking for an opportunity. Maybe a slowness to react, maybe you're distracted, not very watchful. maybe you're compliant and compromised.
You're not doing battle against an overwhelming force that comes at you head on, you're fighting an enemy who is looking at you from hidden places. From the shadows of your time spent here and there. And silently watching, downwind and out of sight he watches your weakness as a means for dragging you down, slowing you down, until he can suffocate you. He looks for a weakness in your faith, in your character, in your life style and choices.
The enemy hinders, he accuses, he deceives, and then he devours. It's your spirit he's after. He wants you to disobey God according to the ways of this world. He'll distort your love. He'll divide your loyalties. And ultimately he'll cause you dishonor. He's got your destruction all planned out. This enemy is lurking near our family, our children, our most cherished when we are not vigilant, and when we are the most tired.
What weaknesses is he looking for?
Discouragement
A believer will forget that all setbacks are temporary and common to everyone in this fallen world. You're not alone in the suffering.
Discontentment
Satan fell from heaven because of his jealousy, his envious spirit. And he preys upon those traits in humans. He can spot the workings of a jealous heart and mind and he will mine that vanity for all its worth.
Doubt
“Did the Lord really say so?"
The Devil and his helpers are forever sowing the seeds of doubt. Especially when it's got anything at all to do with standing up for truth, or an outward faith. He will send little tiny minded Satan's to bedevil and malign your message with newspeak. He will make you question your salvation, causing you to doubt the sovereignty of God. And his fact-checkers will try to impose their truth upon your articles of faith with half-truths and accusations of "mostly false" truths.
Disregard
And finally The Devil will divide your loyalties, and grow up a dark and evil spirit in your soul for all things Christ-like. At this point he's poisoned you and weakened you so much so that you're no longer thinking clearly. He's wormed his way in and has become your chief councilor. He dips his arrows in filth and targets your gut. Not a quick kill, but a slow agonizing poisoning of your body and soul. Satan openly desires that every child of God dissents against God’s commandments, and by means of discord, ruins their fellowship with God.
Are you living a compromised life?
God has shown us a way.
Be aware of Satan’s presence. Do not let Satan outwit us! “in order that Satan might not outwit us. We are not ignorant of Satan’s devices” (2 Corinthians 2:11.)
Identify the traps. “Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. Ephesians 6:11
Guard your heart, be sober in your faith. Be steadfast and stay true to the way of truth. Stay within the riverbanks. A saved, watchful Christian can never become a swayed believer, but will remain a Steadfast Child of God.
Recognize your weakest links, know your personal struggles and get a grip upon them. Gird your loins it is said. Isn't it funny if you just switch the places of a couple of letters, loins becomes lions. Watch your back. Pay close attention to your wandering mind, stubborn heart, and weak flesh as you stay alert, ever wary of the power of darkness wishing to subdue you.
Resist Satan. Stand together in the unity and formation of faithfulness. And if someone overpowers one person, two can resist him. A cord of three strands is not easily broken. (Ecclesiastes 4:12)
Know Jesus, and spot Satan. Satan cannot touch our souls without Jesus’ permission. We have a hedge of protection built around us by the Lord. Greater is JESUS that is in YOU, than the Devil that is in the World! (1 John 4:4) DEATH and DEVIL has no power over our LORD JESUS.
Friends,
I pray you stay watchful, and resist the ways of this world. Stay faithful to The Way of truth, and may God bless you in all your ways. I pray this for you and for the sake of our Lord Jesus, king of the universe.
Amen
